Slow Cooker Beef Stew

Cook Time: 4 hours


INGREDIENTS


  • 400g beef stew meat, cut into 1 inch cubes
  • 2 tbsp all-purpose flour
  • 1/2 tsp salt
  • 1/2 tsp ground black pepper
  • ¼ tsp baking soda
  • ¼ cup red wine
  • 2 clove garlic, minced
  • 2 bay leaf
  • ½ tsp paprika
  • ½ tsp Worcestershire sauce
  • ½ onion, minced
  • 1 1/2 cups beef broth
  • 1 potato, diced
  • 2 carrots, sliced
  • 1 stalk celery, minced
  • 3 tbsp olive oil



DIRECTIONS


  1. Season beef with salt and pepper. Mix beef into baking soda and flour.
  2. In a skillet, heat 2 tbsp oil in medium high heat. Saute beef until slightly brown.
  3. Add minced onion and saute till soft. Add beef broth and red wine. Bring to boil.
  4. Add all remaining ingredients. 
  5. You can transfer to slow cooker to cook on low setting for 10 to 12 hours, or on High setting for 4 to 6 hours. Otherwise, cover and cook on stove in medium low heat for about 3 hours. Be sure to check on it every 15 mins. Stir and add more water if it dries up.
  6. Cook until beef is tender. Serve and enjoy.
